Due to design calculation problems and over estimation of the soil capacity under the 13 floors hotel, huge settlement under the raft have affected the stability of the structure and caused remarkable disorders.

After studying the conditions, PFS has proposed a foundation system to limit the settlements, based on skin grouted micropiles.

However, prior to confirmation of the design and in order to verify the soil capacity and confirm the properties provided by the soil reports, PFS has carried out 3 static load tests (One in each section of the building), where micropiles were loaded up to failure.

Based on the test results, the adopted service load per micropile was 700kN, provided that the structural designer accepts a maximum settlement of 3 mm.
