The project consists of the construction of a new wheat bulk unloder building and 8 storage silos. PFS was awarded the contract for execution of 529 foundation piles and 52 shoring piles based on secant pile wall system. Due to the subsurface conditions, PFS had to drill the piles in unknown soil conditions, including old reinforced concrete slabs with steel reinforcement rebars reaching 40mm diameter. In addition to the foundation piles, and since a pit of approx. 5m must be done under the building, including 3.5m under the groundwater table, PFS has proposed to install a secant pile wall system before the excavation of the pit in order to ensure the required dry conditions for construction works.
